About Jennifer Ballard

I was born and raised in Vancouver but now I live Toronto. Photography has always been very important to me. I have detailed photographic records of most of my life. I even have all sorts of pictures from that awkward teenager stage that I would prefer to forget!

Although photography has always been a passion of mine, it is not my first career. After completing a Masters degree in Biochemistry and working in the medical research field for several years, I finally realized that I should do what makes me and the people around me happy. I really truly love what I do!

Lovelee Affairs | Toronto Headshots

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jade, Shantel, and Melissa of Lovelee Affairs. They were in need of some fresh headshots and I’m so happy they asked me. These ladies are so much fun and full of all sorts of ideas!

Lovelee Affairs is a boutique event and wedding planning firm offering services in Toronto, Atlanta, and any other destination your heart desires. The company was started in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2008 by Toronto-born Jade Lee and expanded North to Toronto in February. They vow to be different by giving each client a unique and tailored experience.

They have created some truly fabulous weddings. I look forward to see what they come up with next!

One of the things I enjoy most is yoga. It is part of my daily routine (…er, well, almost) and is, in part, responsible for my sanity. So I’m sure you can imagine that I was elated when Jonny Belinko, one of my favourite instructors, asked me to shoot some pictures of him practicing yoga for his new Yoga Instructional DVD, based on Shri. K. Pattabhi Jois’ Primary Ashtanga Series. Jonny is a natural teacher and you can’t help get sucked into loving him and his classes. Jonny teaches at many studios around Toronto including my favourite, Iam Yoga.

Before we started the shoot we went for coffee. Jonny starts each morning off with a cup of espresso. We went to Manic Coffee on College Street, one of the best coffee shops in Toronto.

Liz is my neighbour. We met one day at our local UPS Store and have been friends ever since. Liz is such a wealth of information. She has given me all sorts of helpful advice and I really enjoy discussing with her the ins and outs of starting and maintaining a successful business. When she asked me if I would take some photos for her new company website, Lizoke Inc., I was thrilled.

Liz is very talented. She has worked on a number of successful marketing campaigns for a variety of well-known brands. Liz has an impressive portfolio which includes marketing strategy, brand development, project management, graphic design, SEO/SEM, social media strategy, website design/usability and e-commerce.

Here are a few pictures of the lovely Liz Oke. Yes folks, those eyes are real!

Isn’t she adorable in this next picture? She looks like she is thinking up a wonderful new idea. This is a montage of pictures I snapped of things around her desk. I love the crazy colourful collage. I’m sure all the bright colours are a great inspiration to her work. I can almost see the pop-up bubble and lightbulb above her head!

Portraits with Jenny in High Park

Here is a small sampling from a portrait session I did with Jenny in High Park. Jenny needed some pictures for her new website and was looking for something a little more unique than the standard corporate headshots. I suggested we go to a park for a more natural look. As it turns out Jenny loves the outdoors and feels right at home frolicking in a meadow!
