I often get asked by my clients what they should wear. The most important thing is to wear something you feel awesome (and comfortable) in. Something that is you. Maybe a slightly polished version of you, but you nonetheless. I also love when my couples incorporate things into their shoot to make it more personal and unique.
When I compare all of my favourite engagement sessions, I see that the common thread is that the couples looked well put together. There is often a colour theme and they are coordinated but not matching. Their outfits also go together. If one of the pair is in an evening gown and the other is in coveralls it is more than likely that you could look odd. A good test is to lay out both outfits and see what they look like together. Likewise, think about the situation. You probably wouldn’t walk your dog in a 3 piece suit. However, if we are going for a strut through Yorkville or for a drink at Canoe that could be appropriate.

Erin and Jeff did this perfectly. Erin loves all things yellow. She also loves bananas. I don’t know if her love of yellow stems from her love of bananas or the other way around but it is safe to say that she is bananas for bananas. In fact, there aren’t too many days in Erin’s world that don’t start with one. Jeff also likes bananas and after getting to know these lovebirds I can say without a doubt that they are also bananas for each other!
We met at their downtown condo and walked down to Sugar Beach and then onto the Music Gardens. This is a route that they do all the time except they are usually running.

You guys are too much fun for one day! I can’t wait for your Ottawa wedding! xoxo

Sarah & Greg | Toronto Engagement Photographer

I love these two, well actually 3. I met up with Sarah, Greg and their lovely furry family member, Mishu, at Cherry Beach this past Sunday evening. It was a lovely unseasonably warm evening with gorgeous glowing sunlight. Mishu and I were fast friends. The doggie cookies Greg put in my camera bag didn’t hurt either! We wandered along the beach and then ventured into the bush. Mishu and I managed to get covered in burrs. Somehow Sarah and Greg seemed to escape their wrath. When we were done with the Mishu part of the program Sarah’s parents were nice enough to take her home (and pick all her burrs off). After a quick wardrobe change and a slight location shift we were ready to go for a few more. All packed up and walking back to the car we noticed the beautiful sky. I love wispy clouds, and I think a few posts back I already proclaimed my love for silhouettes!Sarah and Greg, you guys are super duper! I can’t wait for your wedding next month at Millcroft Inn! xoxo

These two are brave, really brave. I think we took these pictures on the coldest day of the year. Even though I had turned into a Popsicle and could no longer feel the buttons on my camera I still had a lot of fun getting to know these lovebirds better.

Pam & Andrew | Vancouver Engagement Photography

Pam and I first met in University. I think it was Chemistry class. We were fast friends and stayed study buddies all the way through our Biochem degrees. Even though we haven’t lived in the same city in many years we have kept in contact and have tried (although unsuccessfully for a few years) to meet up now and again. We hadn’t seen each other in ages so you can imagine my delight when Pam and Andrew asked me to shoot their Vancouver wedding this coming spring.

On Christmas Eve we went to Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver for a very wet engagement session. The market at Lonsdale Quay is a great rainy day location as there are lots of outdoor covered areas. By total happenstance they brought a red umbrella along which coordinated quite nicely with the Quay and helped to brighten up the gloomy day.

Pam and Andrew, you guys are so much fun. I really look forward to your Terminal City Club wedding.
